JW funeral and I am DF'd

i have not been a very active poster lately [have you missed me?].

there has been plenty of drama in my life the last few weeks, and my time has been absorbed by it.

my grandma is seriously ill, and has but a few more months to live.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with these insensitive yahoos as well as with your emotions about losing your Grandma.

I agree with all the others, that you DO NOT have to sit at the back of the hall even if asked to move. That is OLD stuff. They haven't seen the NEW LIGHT yet. You deserve to sit right at the front WITH your family without any repercussions to your JW family later.

PLEASE NOTE: I had a similar situation with a df'd family member coming to a JW relative's funeral just this year.

The df'd family member sat with us. He talked with us. We hugged. AND several elders and their wives talked with him AND hugged him too. I was asked later by one elder, if we noticed that display of love to him and how nice it was for them to be able to do to that since the Society DOES ALLOW them to show sympathy to a df'd family member at his relative's funeral.

So be strong. They have NO authority over you.

Anderson's Go to Canada to Testify

joe and barbara anderson will be representing silentlambs.org at the victoria boer sexual child abuse trial in toronto, canada that will begin on sept. 9th.

the andersons need a place to stay for approximately one night in toronto during the trial where barbara will be called to testify against the watchtower.

in addition, if they could find a place to stay somewhere near northern indiana or michigan, on the way from tennessee to the trial, and a place to stay when they return, it would save silentlambs motel costs.

well well....how wonderful it is to see people taking potshots at one another, to see a group of people who could be supporting and helping one another instead turn to infighting and slagging.

i'm disgusted by it all, i really am.

in the last year or so that i've been online, i thought that i had made some real friends, i thought that it was possible to really get to know people thru this modern miracle of technology.

Hey there lady I'm right here beside you on this one.

I understand totally how you are feeling. I've had many times feeling disgusted too over different directions some individuals were trying to take this board. I've written and deleted more thoughts before I could post them, that I could count, so I'm glad to hear you venting about this. I know for a fact there are more out there that feel the same way.

I am really disappointed in seeing so many so-called adults behaving worse than children, stamping their feet because they don't get their way. Sometimes a 4-letter word does get the point across better, but it certainly becomes abused here too often.

However, there are so many positive things this board has to offer and so many useful purposes this board serves. Well-thought out posts using discretion, maturity, and caring do more good than someone who displays a selfish, too-full-of-themselves attitude. I still firmly believe we do more harm to those who are confused and searching, when some here act just like the WTS says xjws act. And just because we "can", does that automatically mean we have to "do"?

This board has posters with such a wealth of knowledge of the WTS's past and as such, can be an invaluable aid in helping those searching for answers. It has many who are dedicated to easing the pain of those trying to deal with their pain caused by the WTS. It has many who are enthusiastic in finding ways to chip away at the control of the WTS on the unsuspecting masses. Others are gifted with a great sense of humour that can accomplish so much to lighten the day and ease the tension, and there's alot more too.

I trust Simon and Angharad's judgement and sense of fairness in dealing with this nonsense. I would like to think that those who are stomping around, crying "unfair", will eventually calm down and "hear" what's being explained to them, analyze it, stew over it and hopefully feel silly over reacting as they did.

You've received alot of good, sensible replies already, so I'll just say, shoot me an email or give me a call when things get to you...and I'll do the same...OK?

is there anything that could make you go back?.

what do you think, is there any change of belief or change of circumstance that could make you return to the jw fold?.

i cant see anything that could make me go back,but i was thinking mabye some of you religious types would go back if they changed some doctrinal things,or if they stopped banning blood.. how about if a family member was dying and hoped to see you in paradise would you go back for a while just to make them feel happy?

Yes..I agree with EVERYTHING in that list

And I would add...I might go back when the WTS:

-Re-instated all the ones they df'd and/or da'd for stating they didn't want to be a JW anymore;

-Dropped the shunning policies;

-Actually became the "non-profit charity" group they CLAIM to be, and dispersed their wealth to help the poor, widows and orphans, homeless, and ill,..just like Jesus' example'

-Apologized and begged our forgiveness for all the hurt, pain, suffering and broken families they have caused;

-Admitted their error and apologized for lying to us about their UN involvement;

-Admitted their error and apologized for all the deaths they've caused by their "No Blood" lie;

-Admitted their error and apologized to all the families of those who lost their lives or suffered incarceration when they inforced their 'no alternative military service" rules;

-And a whole lot more....... OR

WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER.....WHICHEVER COMES FIRST

Yes I've read recent JW articles that now say that the Bible prophecies do not say that there would be an increase in earthquakes, but that their effect would be felt moreso...or words to that effect. (which btw..did the WTS recently come right out and say...we now have new light...its not that increasing earthquakes would indicate we are in the last days, but now new light shows us that it would be the effect of......blah, blah.??) So yes the info is outdated.....

However, it is still good to have the incriminating evidence of the WTS's manipulations of quotations that were, and still are, purposely used to deceive the reader into thinking that even some "worldly" authority agrees with the WTS's knowledge which of course only they (the GB) are privy to having been blessed by god to be the one and only chosen source to understand Bible prophecies.

German PR Speaker Bernd Klar even appeared on a local TV station stating that "If I said today that I didn't want to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, nothing at all would happen to me. My brothers would speak to me, they would come along and ask why I don't want to be a JW anymore."

My son said only that he did not want to be one of JW's anymore and the elders announced at the next meeting that he had da'd himself...no letter was written by my son though. Nice to see the "JW worldwide unity in thought and word" is intact. <------ sarcasm to the max.

I sure wish this PR speaker's statement was in writing somewhere. I would love to wave that under some noses around here.

I'm disappointed that you said that no private information from the GB allowing softened attitudes by elders, was given to the elders, that you know of. I was hoping to be able to get ahold of something in print that showed otherwise. That too is something I would like to wave under some noses since my son's elder/father has only spoken to him a few times at funerals for the last several years.

My heart goes out to all who are suffering family split-ups under the WTS rules. The more this and other policies that the WTS lies about, are made known to the public, the more their numbers of new recruits and members will dwindle. That will hit the WTS where it hurts most---their pocketbook and their pride.

Is it possible to provide us with scans of these letters replying to your requests?

Scanned copies would be very helpful for those of us collecting proof of the WTS's deceitful practices of mis-using "selective quotations" as false agreement with their teachings. It will also be of help to any JWs who are reading this information here, to see the true side of the WTS.

CNN show viewed as Persecution by JW

i was telling the guys this morning here a work about the cnn show and how in the mind of jw all this public attention for so many of them is often viewed as bible prophecy being fulfilled in their behalf.

i dare say that in a typical congo of 120 publishers only 4or 5 if that will stop and consider what all this means.

so one of the guys asked how is that possible with all this stuff going on.i explained to him he needs to understand the indoctrination process for the avg jw.

Along these same lines of JW double-think....I heard a prime example of this the other day, only in the context of 'proof of Jah's blessing' instead of persecution.

Obviously JWs are getting some flack from householders about the WTS. The JW commented that, in the service they are hearing people criticize the WTS as being just a rich printing company. He said they can answer that by agreeing it is rich and saying that this is proof that Jah's blessing his chosen organization.

And everyone listening just did the "yup, yup head-nodding in agreement" motion. They don't seem to think that there are other organizations and churches in the world that are rich and have lots of assets too. Why isn't that a sign of Jah's blessing them?

So whether it be "proof of persecution" or "proof of blessing"...they will continue to twist things to fit their agenda. [:?]

Oh well...with all the publicity bringing out the truth of the WTS, at least the average householder is now getting to see the true tarnish under all the glow and glitter.

If you would speak to us in a grown-up, mature manner, perhaps you would get more reasonable responses to a valid question than the few you have already received.

I certainly have no desire at all to respond to any of your points or questions when you talk down to us in such a ridiculous manner. Why do you feel it necessary to mask your comments and questions in the guise of an uneducated dimwit? Its just too insulting to even bother to try to discuss this subject with you.

There...I got that off my chest....now I won't have to bother anymore with comforter's threads until I see some improvement in his attitude toward us.

Cudos to those who have braved the grating writing-manner of this"comforter?" and have responded with some fine reasoning.

So what I will enjoy from this thread is the fine cuisine reports some have so graciously printed for us and thumbs-ups for the cutting retorts of many too!!! Thank you for the refreshment!!!!
